Project Checklist
- Set everything up exactly as planned for the real night.
- Tweak projector position and angle until image fits perfectly.
- Check projection in complete darkness to see true effect. The projector room must *not* have lights on, other than the projector, for the images to be seen clearly outside the house.
- Run video for extended period to check for overheating/playback issues.
- Ensure looping and timer functions work as expected.
- Double-check all power cables, surge protectors, and USB connections.
- Do final check the night before to ensure everything still works.
Safety Reminders
- Keep all equipment inside where it’s dry.
- If you have pets, put the projector where they can’t knock it over.
- Never touch the projector lens with your fingers – first, fingerprints are hard to clean off, but more importantly, IT WILL BE HOT enough to burn you.
Picture Problems
Picture is blurry or fuzzy
- Turn the focus ring on your projector until the picture gets clear.
- Clean the lens with a soft, clean lens cloth.
- Move the projector closer or farther from the window.
Picture is too big or too small
- Move the projector closer to make the picture smaller.
- Move the projector farther away to make the picture bigger.
- Look for zoom buttons on your projector remote.
Picture looks bent or crooked
- If there is enough space, point the projector straight at the window.
- Look for “keystone” dial on your projector to straighten the picture.
- Make sure the projector is level.
Picture is too dim or hard to see
- Find the brightness setting in your projector menu.
- Increase brightness.
- If there are lights in the projector room, turn them off.
- If it’s daylight outside, wait until it’s dark – projections need it to be dark inside and outside the room.
Everything looks gray and flat
- Find the contrast setting in your projector menu.
- Increase contrast.
Colors look too red/orange or too blue
- Find the color temperature setting in your projector menu.
- Choose “Normal” or “Cool”.
- This will make colors look more natural.
Colors look washed out or too bright
- Find the saturation setting in your projector menu.
- Adjust the saturation until colors look just right.
Picture edges look fuzzy or weird
- Find the sharpness setting in your projector menu.
- Increase sharpness.
- Don’t make it too high or it will look fake or pixelated.
Screen or Curtain Problems
Fabric is sagging or drooping
- Use clips or painter’s tape to tighten the curtain to stretch flat.
- Only if you will not reuse the fabric or curtain after, consider cutting off extra bulk fabric.
Screen keeps falling down
- Clean the wall or window where you’re sticking it.
- Use stronger tape or adhesive strips.
- Make sure the surface is dry.
Fabric has wrinkles
- Moisten and tumble dry the fabric.
- Gently iron the fabric before hanging it.
- Use a steamer on the fabric.
- Pull it tight when you hang it up.
Projector Problems
Projector won’t turn on
- Check that the power cord is plugged in tight.
- Try a different wall outlet.
- Check that the power cord is tightly plugged into the projector.
- Put new batteries in the remote.
- Look for a power button on the projector itself.
Stuck on menu screen
- Press the “Input” or “Source” button on the remote.
- Choose the right input (like USB or HDMI).
- Turn the projector off and on again.
Projector is too hot or making loud noises
- Make sure there’s space around the projector for air.
- Clean dust from the air holes with a soft brush.
- Point a small fan at the projector.
USB Problems
Video skips or freezes
- USB drive might be too slow because it doesn’t have enough gigabytes – try a faster 64GB device.
Files don’t appear in the projector
- Ensure files are in MP4 format and correctly stored directly on the USB.
Video plays once and stops
- The loop wasn’t set. Look for the “loop” or “repeat setting” on the projector and complete the setup steps again.
USB doesn’t appear on PC
Weather Problems
Can’t see the picture when it’s raining
- Turn up the brightness on your projector.
- Wait for lighter rain if possible.
- Make sure all equipment stays inside and dry.
Window is foggy or has water drops
- Wipe the window with a clean cloth.
- This happens when it’s very hot inside and very cold outside.
- You might need to wipe it a few times during the night.
Video Problems
Video stops playing or doesn’t repeat
- Look for “Loop” or “Repeat” in your projector menu.
- Turn it on so videos play over and over.
- Name your video files with numbers like 01, 02, 03.
There are gaps between videos
- Turn off any transition effects.
- Set playback to “continuous”.
- Make sure there are no delays between videos.
